peking opera headdress

traditional art meets modern tech:

nobility hEADDRESS

Fascinated by the intersection of traditional Chinese art and modern technology, I explored how Peking opera, with its iconic character archetypes and expressive costumes, could be enhanced through innovation. Nobility in Peking opera is often signified by intricate blue headdresses adorned with butterflies and pearls mounted on springs, which amplify the performers' movements. Drawing inspiration from this, I created two prototypes: the first, triggered by a tilt switch, responds to physical gestures, while the second, using a sound sensor, reacts to vocals and music. These designs aim to accentuate the dynamic storytelling of Peking opera, merging heritage with technological creativity.
